St. Patrick Parish

Serving the People of Rutland, Oakham and Hubbardston

On January 20, 2005 the St. Patrick's Social Committee had their first meeting and scheduled as their first event and adult only Candlelight Dinner and Dancing, which for a first time event, was pleasantly, well attended.  Since then they had been meeting the first Sunday of the month at 9:00 a.m. to plan a calendar of yearly events for the St. Patrick's family.  Below is a tentative calendar of scheduled events for the year.  If there is any event in which you would be interested in helping out with, please let Father Jim know or come and attend one of the meetings.  We will be most happy to have your help.

January - Pot Luck Supper to Welcome New Parishioners.  This will be a time for the established members of St. Patrick's to welcome the newer members of our Parish Family.

February - Candlelight Dinner or a Mardi Gras Dinner Dinner (depending when Lent begins)

March - Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner

April - Sponsor a Fishing Derby at Long Pond (or something for the youngsters of the parish)

May - Hot Dog Day at Suffolk Downs in Boston (family day)

June - Yearly Planning Meeting.  Because of graduations and June just being a very busy month we have decided that we would use this time to plan for the next year's events.

July - St. Patrick's Family Night at the Worcester Tornado's Baseball Game.

August - Boston Pops Concert or Boston Symphony at Tanglewood or a boat trip to Narragansett Bay and Newport RI with a stop at Newport for shopping.

September - September festival Family event.

October - Parish Pictures ? We are still working on something for this month.

November - St. Patrick's Turkey Social

December - Bus trip to LaSallette Shrine for the Christmas Lights with a shopping stop at the Emerald Square Mall before going to LaSallette.

Remember that this schedule is a work in progress.  If you have any suggestions please come to one of the meetings and share them with us.
